Tulsa Forklift Parts - The city of Tulsa is the 2nd-largest city in Oklahoma State and 46th-biggest city in the nation. With a population of 391,906 as of the 2010 census, it is the principal municipality of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, a region with 937,478 (2010) inhabitants in the MSA and 988,454 (2010) within the CSA. Tulsa's CSA is estimated to reach one million between the years 2010 to 2012. The city serves as the county seat of Tulsa County, the most heavily inhabited county within Oklahoma, and extends into the counties of Rogers, Wagoners and Osage.

The area was initially settled between 1828 and 1836, after an attack by the Lochapoka Band of Creek Native American tribe. It was also the location of the infamous Tulsa Race Riot during the year 1921. This riot was and is still considered amongst the largest and most destructive race riots in the countries history. For most of the 20th century, the city was known as the "Oil Capital of the World" and played a key part as among the most essential centers for the American oil industry. Tulsa, together with some other cities, claims to be the origin of U.S. Route 66 and is also known for its Western Swing music.

The Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa features a great compilation of American art from the colonial times to the present. There is an emphasis on art from the west. The collection housed here was once the property of Thomas Gilcrease, a Tulsa oil magnate, but was later purchased by the city during the year 1955. Included in the art is roughly 10,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures and prints by 400 artists. Of the 22 bronzes of Frederic Remington, 18 can be seen here. Other Tulsa museums and cultural attractions consist of the Tulsa Air and Space Center, the Fenster Museum of Jewish Art and the Philbrook Museum of Arts. Tulsa is home to the Oklahoma Aquarium and the Tulsa Zoo. Mayfest is a 4-day outdoor arts and music festival that draws 250,000 individuals every year.

Though the oil industry has historically dominated the city's economy, efforts in economic diversification have created a base in the sectors of aerospace, finance, telecommunications, technology, manufacturing and high tech. The Tulsa International Airport (TUL) along with the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, the most inland seaport within the nation, connect the area with worldwide trade and transportation. An American Airlines maintenance base at Tulsa International Airport is the biggest employer of the city and the world's largest maintenance facility, serving as the airline's international engineering and maintenance headquarters, whereas the Tulsa Port of Catoosa and the Tulsa International Airport house extensive industrial parks.

Within Tulsa, there are company headquarters for several big financial corporations like the BOK Financial Corporation. Other companies call Tulsa home, including the semi-national convenience store chain QuikTrip, the international car rental company of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Mazzio's semi-national pizza chain and Hilti. Many worldwide oil and gas-related businesses have headquarters in Tulsa, including Williams Companies, SemGroup, Syntroleum, ONEOK, Excel Energy and Samson. Now, there are 30 businesses in Tulsa which employ more than 1,000 people, even if small businesses make up over 80 percent of Tulsa's companies.
