Forklift Tire Specs
Ever since the year 1917, important tools used in commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through different kinds, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into specialized tires, with different types designed to suit particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated for various load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually utilized within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Foam or air is utilized to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They come in two types: radial or bias. Depending upon the use, they come with different tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are commonly utilized outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires offer together with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a great option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires which can either be foam, solid or pneumatic. These tires are suitable for loading and moving bulk objects into processing machines or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts usually used at lumberyards, construction sites and automobile recyclers.
